Twitter on the Scene

social mediaSocial media was at the forefront of breaking news yesterday when the news broke first on Twitter that a plane had made an emergency landing in the Hudson River in New York City. The event has been well-covered by the mainstream media, but one of the best pictures I’ve seen was snapped by a ferry passenger and uploaded to Twitpic by a nearby observer.

If you don’t use Twitter, you should. And if you do use Twitter and don’t use Twitpic, go sign up now. You never know when something big will happen and I don’t want to miss your amazing photo.

Update: Twitpic is no longer, but you can now post photos directly to Twitter.
