Social Expedition podcast

With Elizabeth, Matthew and Dave from LunaWeb

Confession: I hate the sound of my voice. I think I sound like a hick. But when my good friends at LunaWeb asked me to be a guest on the Social Expedition podcast, I couldn’t say no. These guys work very hard to sponsor, promote and organize BarCampMemphis, SocialCamp Memphis and the monthly social media breakfasts that this confirmed night owl actually looks forward to getting up early for.

Elizabeth, Matthew and Dave made it fun, non-stressful and easy — we chatted about WordPress, location-based social networking, conferences and the positive energy that the entrepreneur and tech community is creating in Memphis. And they were so nice I let them take my picture.

If you don’t mind my hick southern accent, I’d love for you to listen here. Subscribe to the podcast in iTunes here.

  1. Yay! Glad you're trying it out.

I'll be interested to see what you think as well, from a service business perspective. I'm playing with it in my mind right now as I think there are some potential uses for the church.

  2. Okay – you've talked me into jumping into Foursquare. I have watched you have fun with it. Sounds interesting and I am interested to know its potential application for a service business (you wouldn't want one of our freebies).

  3. I'm digging it, though it makes me feel pathetic as I'm realizing how little I get out :-P

Also find it interesting that they launched with an iPhone app only; especially in the wake of the Droid launch and buzz; can only figure it's coming soon.

Agree about Oprah/the opportunists – hoping to get a jump on this one and educate some folks early.

I'm watching this from the sidelines (plus I don't have an iPhone anymore). The most compelling (and actually, I think it's sad) thing I think you mentioned is the bit about until Oprah catches on. The opportunists that mislead people when they see a surge in popularity is hard to turn a blind eye to. I look forward to hearing more about FourSquare and appreciate the informative post.
