Signs requesting help are a common sight

Signs requesting help are a common sight

I just posted this on Memphis Connect:

The The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has mobilized global relief efforts in Haiti. UMCOR been recognized by Charity Navigator as a four-star organization. From their Web site:

UMCOR honors cultural differences. We deliver aid to people without regard to race, religion, politics, or gender. We seek input from local communities in identifying needs.

No question about it. You were absolutely a veteran of social media way before it was “cool”. In fact, you were way deep into social when it was totally “uncool”. But you believe in it.

I had no problem introducing the panel as Expeditionaries. You are exactly an Expeditionary. Although I have no exact idea what you prefer in creature comforts, I do know that your mind has no problem with uncharted discovery with a team or to share your solo findings with those not on the initial trek.

It's been a fantastic experience to be on this Expedition with you all. In being a big part of making it what it is, it wouldn't be the same without you. I search my mind for figurative terms related to discovery and exploration with a mission. What comes to mind is campfire, the weathered smiles of geek, and the clanking of tins filled with spirits to sip between shared stories of discovery.

Land Ho! There are whole worlds we've yet to behold in wonderment… void of beaten paths … of natural pre-greed beauty: a chaste reflection of only the best in man … fair wind intentions … and mostly good souls on the Shore Party. Peace and Thank you.
