BarCamp — It’s Not Just for UberGeeks

If you:
- wonder what Google Wave is all about,
- want to meet new people who share your interest in technology,
- want to blog, but don’t know where to start,
- wish you knew how to turn that genius idea into an iPhone app,
- love good food, good conversation and have always wanted to play PowerPoint Karaoke,
… you need BarCamp! It’s Saturday, November 14, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering. Breakfast, lunch and snacks are included and we’ve got swag and some cool door prizes you just may win.
I’ll be speaking on Blogging 101. I know it’s a lame title and all, but it’s one of my favorite topics.
We’ll talk about:
- So you’ve decided to blog — what now?
- Get started with WordPress
- Organize your content
- LInks, comments, blogrolls
- Make it cool: plugins, themes and widgets
If you’re way past Blogging 101, you can learn to create an iPhone app, get introduced to Ruby on Rails or explore social platforms for enterprise. The afternoon is filled with core conversations — discussions that everyone can participate in.
The people are friendly, the atmosphere is casual and comfortable and the food rocks — and it’s way better than football.
