Ok, I know everyone has seen this picture — the line began forming yesterday at 5:00 a.m at New York’s Fifth Avenue Apple store (inside the glass cube, for those who aren’t quite as geeky as I am). There aren’t many times I’m grateful that I’m not in New York, and especially on Fifth Avenue, but this may be one of them.
Elizabeth (my 18-year-old daughter) and I have been following the iPhone with great interest and we plan to line up together at the Apple store, sometime late Thursday or Friday, whenever the line begins to form. It may sound silly, it may be a lot of hype, but, like it or not, there is no denying it is history being made.
And since this is probably the only chance I’ll ever have to actually be a part of the making of history, I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Elizabeth has even agreed to have her picture taken with me in front of the Apple store for the occasion. And, in honor of the occasion, I’ll be wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans. No, no turtleneck — have you ever been in Memphis in June?
